Join Dr. Antoine Hakim, Emeritus Professor at the uOttawa Branch and Mind Research Institute for a informative presentation going over seven rules to follow to help anyone prevent dementia. It’s never too early to take care of your brain!

Biography: 

Antoine Hakim, O.C., MD, PhD, FRCPC

Emeritus Professor, UOttawa Brain and Mind Research Institute, Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and Neurologist at The Ottawa Hospital. Dr.  Antoine Hakim was the founding CEO and Scientific Director of the Canadian Stroke Network and the University of Ottawa Brain and Mind Research Institute.

Dr. Hakim has received many honours during his career.  In 2007 he was appointed Officer of the Order of Canada and received the Willis award.  In 2013, he was inducted into the Medical Hall of Fame and finally, he was the Recipient of the 2017 Canada Gairdner Wightman Award, referred to by many as “the baby Nobel”, for his outstanding research into strokes and their consequences and championing stroke prevention and treatment in Canada and beyond.

Dr. Hakim is also the author of a book that is available in French and in English, “Save Your Mind – Seven Rules to Avoid Dementia” which emphasizes actions individuals and societies can take to reduce the risk of dementia.
