Can Brain Activity Reveal Early Cognitive Decline and What Protects Us? - with uOttawa

Changes in cognitive health can be subtle and may not be captured in standard neuropsychological assessments. Neuroimaging techniques (i.e., functional near infra red spectroscopy (fNIRS) and electroencephalography (EEG)) might provide us with an early window into these subtle changes that are not captured by traditional tests. In addition, these tools may help demonstrate the protective effects of cognitive reserve factors (i.e., education, bilingualism, occupation, physical activity level) that reinforce cognitive health.

Thanks to participation from NAFR members like you, Ria Prasana (MSc) & Sarah Fraser (PhD) are able to share recent findings from their lab that explored cognitive health, brain activity, and cognitive reserve factors.

The content will be presented in English, however bilingual participation is encouraged. La présentation se fera en anglais, mais la participation dans les deux langues officielles est encouragée.
