Seniors for Climate: Breaking Through the Climate Silence

Climate change is affecting Canadians’ health, safety, and affordability. Yet people are talking about it less, not more, even though research shows most Canadians remain deeply concerned about climate change. Other issues may be capturing the headlines nowadays, but science has shown that the challenge of climate change remains a threat even if people are not talking about it as much

Seniors play a unique and powerful role in breaking the silence on climate change discussions They are trusted voices in families and communities, participate consistently in civic life, bring lived experience and moral authority, face less economic or political intimidation. Seniors have outsized political, economic and social power. And they vote!

Seniors for Climate is a Canada-wide group of seniors alarmed by the climate crisis, leveraging their political and voting power to push for urgent action on a variety of fronts . This presentation will talk about what this organization has done and is doing in the face of climate changes, why seniors matter and how you can get involved if you are interested.
