Prevent Falls and Live More Independently at Home - with AIM Fitness

Falls are the leading cause of injury-related hospitalizations for Canadian seniors – including 95% of all hip fractures. However, the good news is that most falls are completely preventable! Taking steps to be proactive about making home’s safe and exercising regularly can make a big difference. Even simple modifications like having a few grab bars installed can prevent hospitalizations and early LTC admissions.

Meg Stickl, Owner of AIM Fitness and Seniors’ Fitness Expert, and Catherine Bennett, Community Engagement Lead from BuildAble have teamed up to offer an interactive workshop which will teach retirees practical and solution-focused tips to prevent falls.

They’ll explore practical modifications and renovations that can be done in homes (ie. Grab Bars, Handrails, ramps, tub-cuts, to full accessible bathroom renovations etc.), as well as strength training and balance exercise examples to do in the comfort of your own home. Wear your workout clothing and be ready to move with us!

The content will be presented in English, however bilingual participation is encouraged. La présentation se fera en anglais, mais la participation dans les deux langues officielles est encouragée.
