Kidney health awareness presented by the Kidney Foundation of Canada

This workshop will give participants an overview of kidney health function and educate them about risks associated with kidney disease, prevention, and treatments. We will also explore programs offered by the Kidney Foundation of Canada which support the kidney community in Canada. The presentation will be followed by a 15 minute question and answer period.

Meet our presenter:

Jennifer Heale is the Senior Regional Manager, Community and Fund Development for the Kidney Foundation of Canada in Ontario. She joined KFOC in spring 2021. Her career in not-for profits has mainly focused on community development and fundraising in the health sector including 8 years with Canadian Blood Services and 2 years with the Queensway Carleton Hospital. She is passionate about patients and growing a community of support to enhance the programs that make a difference in their lives

Patricia Treusch is a board member for the Eastern Ontario Chapter of the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Her son is a kidney patient. Patricia has worked to educate the public about the importance of salt-reduced diets for kidney patients and several other chronic illnesses. She developed a culinary arts salt-free challenge starting with Algonquin College, which led to curriculum development for sodium reduction within food processing arts for all the Canadian colleges. She is also the Founder and Chair of Salt-free Canada, and the Blue and Green Soirée Salt-free Challenge and promoter of the Salt-free Awareness Week Ottawa.

The content will be presented in English, however bilingual participation is encouraged. La présentation se fera en anglais, mais la participation dans les deux langues officielles est encouragée.
