BestLifeRewarded offers an online computer program that encourages healthier living through small steps and computer “clicks”. BestLifeRewarded works with Canadian companies (and several federal departments and agencies) to help individuals learn how to improve their health and to reduce health-related costs. Individuals answer a health-related questionnaire online and receive personalized action plans, so they can make positive health changes, while earning points to bid on monthly rewards (e.g. gift certificates).
Ottawa Branch has negotiated for our branch members to have free access to this computerized health behaviour program or up to two years, as a pilot project. During that time, BestLifeRewarded will study the results as part of a research project on seniors’ health behaviour change.
Members who decide to participate will be asked to read and accept a consent form that explains how BestLifeRewarded complies with federal and provincial privacy legislation and safeguards the information it collects. You can stop participating at any time.

The Ottawa Branch provides information on issues, products and services of general interest to our membership via the Sage Magazine, the Ottawa Branch Report, various e-mails and general meetings. The Branch does not endorse a particular position on an issue, or a product or service, as being suitable for individual members, but brings them to the member’s attention so that they can make up their own minds.
Note: The following list of merchants offer discounts to Branch’s members. However, it is the responsibility of the individual to identify themselves as a member of the Association and to confirm the nature of the discounts at the time of enquiring about or receiving services. Members may also be asked to provide proof of their membership to obtain such discounts. To receive these benefits, you must show affiliation with our organization. To this effect, please note that the National Association has decided to discontinue the use of annual stickers for renewal of Federal Retirees membership cards effective January 1, 2017. This decision was made as a cost cutting measure to help ensure a balanced budget. The expected savings are approximately $100,000 per year. You should also know that a Notice on the subject has been forwarded to our Preferred Partners on October 27, 2016. You can view and make a copy of this notice by following this link Notice to Preferred Partners.
